 Ag Tag
It only takes $10 to make a difference in supporting Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and Kentucky Proud. Be sure to ask about the Kentucky Ag Tag Program when you renew your license plate and how to make your $10 donation in support of the youth in your community.

The Ag Tag Program is supported by the Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture, Jonathan Shell. The money raised by the program is evenly split between Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and Kentucky Proud, which promotes agricultural products raised, grown, or processed in Kentucky by Kentuckians.  We thank our farmers for their continued support!

Mock Interview Contest
This contest teaches senior 4-H’ers real-life skills to succeed in job interviews. There are two age divisions (age as of January 1, 2024): 14-15 and 16-18. Participants choose to interview for one of four job positions: vet technician, coffee bar attendant, photographer, or retail sales associate. Prior to the interview, youth will need to develop a resume with their real-life education and experience to bring to the interview. Mock interviews will be held on Monday, March 11 at 4:30 p.m. at the Daviess County Extension Office. Each participant will be given a 15-minute interview with local community members. Deadline to sign up is Monday, March 4th. Please call the Extension Office or email sharayha.clingenpeel@uky.edu to sign up. Once the deadline passes, a link will be sent to those signed up with available time slots. A winner will be selected from each age category to represent Daviess County 4-H at the W5/W6 Area 4-H Mock Interview Contest in Grayson County on May 7th. More information can be found at https://daviess.ca.uky.edu/mock-job-interview.

Open House
Save the date for an Open House at the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Office on Tuesday, May 21. Look for more details to come in future newsletters!

KFB Institute
Kentucky Farm Bureau has invested in our state’s youth for thirty-eight years through the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL) Program. IFAL is a unique five-day summer leadership conference that exposes students to college life and explores different fields of study for careers in agriculture. IFAL allows high school juniors to choose between separate conferences at two of Kentucky’s premier universities. This year’s IFAL conferences will take place June 9-13, 2024, at Murray State University and June 23-27, 2023, at the University of Kentucky.

The IFAL program helps students become familiar with Farm Bureau, promote agricultural-related career choices, provide leadership development opportunities, and promote each participating university. Additional information about the program is online at kyfb.com/IFAL.

In most instances, the County Farm Bureau pays the $400 registration fee.  Applications can be found at the following link:

https://kyfb.jotform.com/221165684415052  They are due to the applicant’s County Farm Bureau office by March 27.

NRESCI Academy
Do you like being outdoors and learning about the environment?  The 4-H Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRESci) Academy is accepting applications for program year 2024-2025.  Applicants must be entering the 6th grade in Fall 2024. The NRESci Academy is a three-year program designed to teach youth about their natural environment. In the program, members participate in hands-on investigations at different locations across the state to learn about Kentucky’s water, forest, entomology, and wildlife resources.  Only 25 youth will be selected.  For more information including a Youtube video and registration, please visit our website.  If you have additional questions, please contact Stacey at the Extension office.  Applications are due to the Daviess County Extension office by April 10.
